Keypoints
- Micron reported $54.23 billion in revenue for its latest quarter, up from $11.32 billion a year ago
- That one quarter was bigger than the company's whole revenue last year, which was $37.38 billion
- Full year revenue reached $133.19 billion and net income hit $84.97 billion
- Micron expects about $61.5 billion in revenue next quarter
- Demand for AI memory chips is behind the boom
Micron makes memory chips, the parts that help computers store and move data fast. This week it shared numbers that look almost unreal. In the quarter that ended September 3, Micron brought in $54.23 billion. The same quarter a year earlier brought in just $11.32 billion. That single quarter beat the company's entire revenue from the year before.
Profit grew the same way. Micron earned $37.7 billion in net income in that quarter alone. Over the full year, revenue came in at $133.19 billion and net income reached $84.97 billion.
So what is going on? AI. Big AI systems need huge amounts of fast memory, and data centers are buying as much as they can get. Micron is also earning a lot on every chip. Its gross margin was about 87%, which is very high for a hardware company.
The forecast looks strong too. Micron expects around $61.5 billion in revenue next quarter. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said he expects an even stronger fiscal 2027 and pointed to long term customer agreements that give the company more confidence.
There is one thing to keep in mind. When a company grows this fast, people start asking how long it can last. Memory demand is closely tied to AI spending, so any slowdown in data center building would be felt quickly. For now, the demand is real and the numbers are loud.
